Mission Opportunity – The Little Free Pantry
New Beginnings Moravian Church has built a Little Free Pantry to help our local neighbors. Little Free Pantry is a non-profit model created to address food insecurity within local neighborhoods, and operates within each individual community. Rather than planning far away from the problem and managing money, the people directly involved donate already purchased food and toiletries.
How does it work?
Hunger operates at all times & so does our Little Free Pantry! Donations are managed out of a pantry box, similarly to our Little Free Library located on our church campus. The food donated is put on display for all to see, and is available for donations or for pickup at all hours. Those in need will be able to choose what best suits their needs. You know exactly what is being given! The food stored in each Little Free Pantry is more than a cache of food, it is a coordinated effort. Donations can be managed based off of what is given, which can be viewed in person rather than by a list. The whole pantry is worth more than the sum of its parts when given with a purpose. Why Should I Give to our Little Free Pantry? It is not a substitute for every food need, but it does hope to provide ingredients that can start, complete, and even sweeten each meal for those that need a hand-up.
