On July 13, 2014, the NBMC Building Committee presented an updated version of Expansion and Renovation plans for our property at Seagle Street and Ramah Church Road.
The base project will be an addition that will include a wing on each side of the existing fellowship building with new hallways, storage, offices, classrooms and meeting spaces. The exterior walls will be brick, similar in color to the Sanctuary building, and will enclose the existing metal exterior walls. Additionally, these renovations will also include improvements needed to bring the building and restrooms up to current safety and disability standards.
If enough money is raised, several side projects could be included that will provide additional functionality in our facility. These include Fellowship Hall improvements, adding a Church Entry Courtyard, enclosing the existing porch to create a Narthex, adding a Pantry and Serving area, and creating a Sanctuary Alcove. Thanks to all of the generous donations, the $50,000 matching gift target of funds donated by August 15, 2014 was exceeded by $5,000! In turn. the matching donor was inspired to match ALL funds received by that date. Click here for funding details and a current status of the fundraising.
Education has always played a vital part in Moravian church life, and these improvements will allow us to continue to offer a high caliber children’s ministry. Together we’ll reach the goal to ensure New Beginnings is there to serve and educate our children. It will also allow more people to experience the powerful community of ministry in the Moravian tradition.
